Where is the festival?

The Sunshine Festival takes place just North of Questa, New Mexico, on private land in Sunshine Valley. The site doesn’t yet have a street address. So, you can either use these coordinates to map your route: 36°50′32.36″ N, 105°35′16.23″ W. (Copy and paste the coordinates into Google Maps, Apple Maps, or any GPS app and it will take you to the festival entrance on Sunshine Valley Road.) or map yourself to the intersection of NM-522 & Sunshine Valley Rd and the site is on the SW corner of that intersection.

What are the festival dates and hours?

 

  • Friday, September 4, 2026: Evening program, 6:00 to 9:00 PM

  • Saturday, September 5, 2026: Day program, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

 

How much are tickets?

 

  • Free for locals from Questa, El Rito, Cerro, Lama, Sunshine Valley, and Costilla.

  • All others: $10 entry fee per person at the gate.

 

Can I camp at the festival?

Yes - limited on-site camping is available and dry camping only (no water, electric, or internet). Space is limited so reserve today and arrive prepared and self-reliant.

What can I expect at the Sunshine Festival?

A community-powered mix of live music, hands-on workshops, food vendors, and more - all outdoors in Sunshine Valley.

Is the festival family-friendly?

Yes. Programming is intended for a wide range of ages.

Are pets allowed?

Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome. Please keep them under control and clean up after them. Service animals are welcome.

What should I bring?

DO bring water, sun protection, sturdy closed-toe shoes, cash, a camp chair, and anything you need to be comfortable outdoors.
Please do not bring alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs.

Will there be food I can buy?

Yes. We’ll have at least three food vendors on site. You’re also welcome to bring snacks and water.

Is the site accessible?

Terrain is uneven and amenities are limited, but we’re committed to helping you attend. If you have a disability and are unsure about the accommodations - especially for on-site camping - please reach out so we can discuss options and support.

Is there parking?

Yes. Free parking near the site will be clearly marked. Volunteers will help direct traffic.

What happens if it rains?

We’re a rain-or-shine event. Bring what you need to be comfortable in light weather. Severe weather plans are in place.

Can I volunteer?

Yes, please! We welcome help with setup, teardown, wayfinding, and workshop support. (Volunteer sign-up details will be posted closer to the event.)

Are there accommodation options near the festival site?

In and around Questa, you’ll find cabins, RV sites, tent camping, and short-term rentals. Nearby Red River has additional hotels, lodges, and cabins. Dispersed camping is also available on nearby BLM and USFS lands (follow agency rules and fire restrictions).
